Insurance Brokers Association of Canada and Laurentian University Launch the First Online MBA and H.B.Com Programs for Insurance Brokers in Canada

Toronto, October 2010 – The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) and its member associations are pleased to announce the launch of an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, and an online Honours Bachelor of Commerce (H.B.Com) program. The degree programs are available to insurance brokers across Canada, through an exclusive arrangement with Laurentian University and its Faculty of Management.

“The MBA and H.B.Com degree programs provide insurance brokers with a unique and valuable opportunity to gain additional business skills for success in a competitive and constantly changing industry. The programs are affordable, fully online, and provide the flexibility needed for very busy professionals. IBAC and its member associations are pleased to be working with Laurentian University in offering these programs to brokers”, said Dan Danyluk, CEO of IBAC.

The degree programs include a broad range of courses in areas such as management science, statistics, accounting, marketing, organizational behaviour and operations, as well as advanced electives in business studies that are highly relevant in today�s business environment. The programs are delivered online in English by Laurentian University, using leading-edge technology, providing brokers with complete flexibility in choosing when and where they want to study.

Both programs are open to brokers who are members of any of IBAC�s 11 member associations, and who have achieved their Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) or Canadian Professional Insurance Broker (CPIB) designation. In addition, brokers seeking admission into the programs will receive consideration for both academic and professional experience.

Applications for admission to the Laurentian online MBA and H.B.Com programs will be accepted from January 3 to March 31, 2011, for courses beginning September 2011. For further information about the programs, visit ibac.ca or ibac.laurentian.ca.
