SunGard iWORKS Launches FrontTier 6.5: New Generation Policy Administration System

Armonk, NY (Aug. 30, 2006) — SunGard (www.sungard.com) has announced the launch of iWORKS FrontTier release 6.5. This milestone version of SunGard’s policy administration solution incorporates major advances in integration, report generation, Web enablement, business process modeling, and SOA (services oriented architecture).

FrontTier is a comprehensive end-to-end solution for P&C policy administration including: quotes; policy administration; claims processing; billing and accounting. FrontTier 6.5 builds on an already full set of features and functionality to provide a greater degree of interoperability through a Web services architecture and offers more rapid implementation capabilities, helping improve speed to market.

FrontTier 6.5 provides a new WYSIWYG front-end layout designer which eliminates the need for a team of developers to design and code custom front-end screens. Combined with user level APIs for accessing business rules, business analysts are now empowered to rapidly develop Web portals for their unique business needs. Through FrontTier’s rapid development model, users can benefit from shortened development cycles, helping reduce the costs typically associated with custom system application projects.

Zissis Trabaris, chief technology officer of SunGard’s iWORKS FrontTier, said: “We are finding the need to interact with more and more diverse applications. FrontTier 6.5 includes upgrades to the infrastructure, which helps simplify integration with third party technologies and facilitates data conversion from legacy systems. The SOA base runtime can interact with third party systems through Java or .NET APIs, XML, Web Services, or message queues which simplify legacy system integration and allows for extended functionality to be natively developed within Java, .NET, or remotely executed regardless of the chosen technology on the other end.”

He continued: “By including an integration framework within iWORKS FrontTier, we now enter into customer implementations with a pre-defined integration engine that can address system integration at the beginning of the engagement. This helps reduce the complexity of an implementation and helps add significant value to our customers who traditionally have had to build the integration layer between the policy administration system and all of the other supporting business applications.”

FrontTier 6.5 was designed with two primary objectives in mind: to provide tools in order to help reduce implementation timelines, and to help simplify the integration of iWORKS FrontTier with external, in some cases, proprietary systems. The achievement of these goals directly translates to higher levels of functionality and faster development time, helping SunGard’s customers realize a rapid return on investment (ROI).
