TORONTO (28 May 2007) Markel Insurance Company of Canada today announced its latest educational offering Let’s Talk about Managing your Drivers a cross-country seminar series to help trucking carriers improve their driver attraction and retention programs.
“Attracting and retaining drivers is a persistent challenge in the trucking industry,” says Silvy Wright, president and CEO of Markel. “We are working with the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council and several key human resources and trucking carrier speakers to help small- and mid-size fleets in particular decode some of the latest driver research and what impact this might have on driver management strategies.”
Markel’s latest seminar is scheduled for five cities across Canada. Trucking journalist John G. Smith will moderate the English-language events; Steve Bouchard will host the French-language seminar. Each event will feature Linda Gauthier, executive director of CTHRC, as well as a number of human resources professionals and trucking carriers, who will share their best practices in driver attraction and retention.

All seminars run from 9:00AM 3:00PM. Lunch will be served. Free parking has been arranged for attendees.
Seminars are open to all trucking carriers and insurance brokers. The cost to attend a seminar is $349, but early bird pricing is available to those who register at least seven days before the seminar date. Early bird pricing for current Markel policyholders and insurance brokers is $149, a savings of $200. For all other early-bird registrants, the discounted rate is $249, a savings of $100. Additional discounts are available for tables of six.
