Calefy was developed by a seasoned insurance professional and software engineer. Insurance is at the centre of everything we develop. We experience the difficulties with the current commercial insurance process first-hand and work to develop software to automate and improve on those processes.
What makes us an InsurTech:
Through the Calefy Quote System, a broker or client fills out the forms they need right from your brokerage’s website, and automatically generated applications appear in your broker’s inbox, complete and ready for submission. Our software custom compiles each application and only asks questions that are relevant to the specific business type you’re working on. This eliminates errors and information gaps inherent in the basic application forms used by other online quoting portals. Our technology goes beyond basic quoting for small businesses, with the ability to create complete application forms for emerging sectors and complex industries. Our software optimizes the application process and automates each step, reducing the average lead-to-submission time from 45 minutes down to just 5 minutes.
We are also client facing, meaning we can sit on a brokerage’s website and handle lead intake for them. The time that brokers would normally spend on manual data entry and preparing new submissions for a number of insurers can now be spent on complex tasks and relationship building.

All of our technology is built in-house, with the user-focused React framework and our flexible and powerful Python servers. In-house code means changes are easy and the structure of our software is understandable and agile. Cloud-based deployments mean all of our services are accessible from whatever device is most convenient for our clients. This also ensures that all data is stored securely and backed up regularly. Our API-connected application leverages AI-driven solutions to verify data entered by the user. Our submissions are even augmented with additional data from OPTA and Google. All of our technology works in harmony to create the best-in-class lead intake software for brokerages or insurers in Canada, saving our users hours every day and increasing efficiency and profitability.
