Rewards for practising driving skills
February 25, 2010 – During driver education sessions all learner drivers are asked to record their in-car hours in a practice log. SGI recommends that a learner driver log a minimum of 36 hours under different driving conditions over their nine-month learning period.
The information recorded in the completed practice log will help learner drivers focus on the skills they need to improve before visiting the driver examiner for their road test.
SGI randomly chose 10 winners from all the practice logs submitted during the year. Each winner will receive a $250 gas card.

“The practice log incentive program encourages all learner drivers to gain the valuable driving experience they need prior to trying for their licence,” Minister responsible for SGI June Draude said. “History shows us that learner drivers with more in-car experience develop safer driving habits, thus keeping our roads safer. Learners with more experience are often more successful in passing their road test on the first try.”
To be eligible for the 2010 reward program, learner drivers must submit their practice log with 36 hours completed to the driver examiner at the time of their road test or mail it to SGI.
