To Celebrate National Road Safety Week, Allstate Canada Debuts a Personalized App for the Modern Driver
Markham, ON (May 13, 2019) – It’s National Road Safety Week* in Canada, May 14-20, 2019 . This week highlights the behaviours that put road users most at risk so we can all help take the necessary steps to address and change them. Allstate Insurance Company of Canada’s Drivewise® app uses telematics technology to provide its auto insurance customers with insights into their driving habits so they can improve and become safer drivers.
Drivewise is a personalized app for the modern driver that puts more power in their hands. Not only does the app allow drivers to learn more about their own driving habits after the completion of each trip, it also gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their safe driving behaviours for the chance to save up to 30% on their auto insurance. Participants in the Drivewise program will not experience an increase in their premium as a result of participating in the program
“Every insurance company has customers who ask for lower rates because they say they are safer drivers. The Drivewise app, through telematics technology, gives Allstate Canada customers the power to showcase exactly that, with the opportunity to save money as a result,” says Glen King, Director, Product Development and Connected Consumer, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. “Our hope is that participants will feel empowered and encouraged to change their behaviours and become even better drivers as they gain awareness of their habits and adopt safer practices behind the wheel.”
The app is free to download on both Apple and Android devices and is simple to use. Once downloaded, it monitors a customer’s driving and provides them with detailed information on their driving and estimated savings based on:
- Safe speeds: keeping speed below 125 km/h
- Safe hours: limiting trips between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Safe stops: limiting hard braking
The Drivewise app is available to Allstate auto insurance customers in Ontario, Alberta, and Nova Scotia and will be rolling out in Quebec this summer. Those interested in trying the app can download the TESTDrivewise version to track their driving habits for five trips and receive feedback to improve their driving skills, in addition to an automatic 5% discount for current customers. TESTDrivewise is free to download and available to all drivers in participating provinces, even if they aren’t Allstate customers.
