Insurance program combines Directors & Officers cover with an insured private healthcare treatment plan: Marsh Canada Limited

TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2008 – Marsh Canada Limited and XN Risk, an operating division of XN Financial Services (Canada) Inc., recently announced the launch of an insurance solution for Canadian corporations and their directors and officers that combines comprehensive directors and officers liability (D&O) protection with an insured private healthcare treatment plan that provides key directors and officers with priority access to leading health care treatment.

The program is the first executive risk insurance product of its kind to be offered to Canadian public corporations that provides the benefits of a combined property & casualty and living benefits insurance product. The new program, known as Director Lifeline(SM), is available at Marsh, is underwritten by XN Risk and insured through certain underwriters at Lloyd’s of London (currently rated A+ (Strong) by Standard & Poor’s). The insured private health care treatment component insures diagnostic verification, transportation, accommodation, and treatment at the top one percent of hospitals in the United States.

Canadian public companies are faced with two seemingly unrelated problems: a competitive business environment for attracting and retaining talent and a public healthcare system pushed to capacity — the Fraser Institute reported in 2007 that the average wait time for medically necessary care in Canada is 9.1 weeks.

“As part of their efforts to not only manage human capital risk, but to attract and retain the best available talent in their senior leadership, many public Canadian companies are taking steps to enhance the benefits and insurance protection that they provide for their directors and officers,” says Alan Garner, president and CEO of Marsh Canada. “To address these needs, we are pleased to collaborate with XN Risk on this exclusive new product, which reinforces our position as the leading experts on executive risk issues in the Canadian marketplace.”

“We are enthusiastic about working with Canada’s leading authority in regard to directors and officers liability issues,” says Dan Anber, president and CEO of XN Financial. “Our goal is to continue to redefine insurance products with unique and innovative approaches to meet the evolving personal risk management needs of directors and senior executives in Canada.”
