Survey for Brokers: Electronic Documents

Brokers: How do you receive electronic documents from your markets?

For several years, insurance companies have made the broker copy of insurance documents available electronically. The manner in which a broker could access them has varied, not only company to company but also over time as technology has advanced. The approaches include:

  • Bulk download from the carrier site
  • Retrieve individual broker copies from the carrier portal
  • Ability to view individual broker copies via the carrier portal, without the need to download
  • eDocs which means the document is attached to the client file in your BMS as part of the EDI process, using CSIO standards.

This sequel to an earlier survey by ORBiT seeks to determine the relative use of this electronic document distribution early in 2013 across Canada.

Please ensure your brokerage responds to the survey to help us assess how many brokerages have implemented the use of electronic documents, which method(s) they are using, and of those, how many continue to receive the paper broker copy as well.

If you are the only person in your brokerage to receive this survey, please forward the link to someone from each department to ensure we hear from all departments in all brokerages. The survey will take only a few minutes to complete and provides valuable information as we continue to seek ways to make the broker channel more efficient and more customer service capable.

The results of the survey will be presented at the session “eDocs: The Game Not Yet Won,” with presentations and a panel discussion, moderated by Wendy Watson, President, ORBiT. This session is part of the Broker stream at the 2013 Insurance-Technology Conference.
