The personal lines sector has frequently been a pioneer in building and enhancing digital insurance capabilities. With increasing demands from both policyholders and distribution partners for digital solutions, technology innovation remains imperative; insurers that do not continue to prioritize their digital capabilities risk being left behind. Distribution partners, including retail agencies, brokers, wholesalers, or MGAs, are currently focused on two key areas – user experience and ease of doing business. They are looking to partner with insurers that reduce friction points, increase efficiencies, and provide self-service digital offerings to both agents and policyholders. Read more.

InsureTech Connect is underway in Las Vegas. Products and services available today will be positioned as the best way to prepare for tomorrow – a future with more connected, embedded, and open insurance than we have today.

Embedded insurance will grow; like an included and/or optional warranty, it will be acquired at time of purchase.

Travel insurance is available with travel purchases. An auto acquisition may offer insurance, even from the auto manufacturer.

But will insurance be offered with mid-range purchases circa $1,000 (e.g. laptop, microwave, camera)? What about less expensive purchases, in the neighbourhood of $50?

Insurance policies would proliferate – like warranties today.

Perhaps open insurance offers a solution?

With authorization, the insurer digitally shares details of my insurance. A new service, which I can access, keeps track of all my insurance details. This third party (possibly my current insurance provider, or possibly not) could review the details for insurance gaps and advise on rounding out the coverages.

Will this be a common scenario in our insurance future?
