New offering supports Football Canada with comprehensive services to reduce return to play risks and establish a new standard of health and safety in amateur sports
Chicago, IL (July 3, 2019) – Football Canada, Player’s Health, and BFL CANADA have announced a partnership to provide risk and compliance services to help amateur sports organizations monitor and report injuries and abuse; establish protocols to mitigate risks; and improve the overall health and safety of athletes.
“Football Canada is excited to be working on this partnership with Players Health and BFL CANADA. We believe this will be a great benefit to our membership and the organization as a whole. Safety has always been a top priority, and this is another tool to support teams and associations across the country,” said Shannon Donovan – Executive Director at Football Canada.
In Ontario, Rowan’s Law, Bill 193 was signed into law in early 2018. It adoption as well as the changes it has brought have been gradual, as many youth sports programs still do not have the tools and resources to comply with the bill. Similarly, in Ontario, the federal and provincial governments released strongly worded statements prioritizing actions to eliminate athlete harassment and abuse over the last year; however, it will be difficult to effect real change for athletes without the proper tools.
“We always want to be recognized as a leader regarding prevention and security. As a proud partner of Player’s Health, this association allows us to be innovative by creating a user-friendly online risk management tool and establishing new standards of health and safety in amateur sport” said Sacha Vaillancourt, Team Leader – Sports and Leisure at BFL CANADA
Player’s Health’s Circle of Care Risk Management Suite is an interactive, digital risk management platform to quickly assess and provide guidance on the best care for the health and well-being of youth athletes. Circle of Care includes: injury protocols; rehab assignments; training session monitoring; and private, anonymous abuse and misconduct reporting. The platform also has a PIPEDA compliant interface simplifying the flow of youth athlete health information between coach, parent and healthcare provider.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Football Canada and BFL CANADA, who embody our vision for making sports safer for young athletes. As a former player for the Calgary Stampeders, Canadian Football gave me the opportunity to live out my dream and understand the tools needed to make the sport safer,” said Tyrre Burks, Founder and CEO of Player’s Health. “Together, we are committed to providing all organizations of Football Canada regardless of size, status and geography with risk services through challenging issues.”
