Total global investment in insurance was US$4.5 billion across 101 deals in 2017: Aite Group report
Boston, MA (Dec. 12, 2018) – The global insurance industry is undergoing an identity refresh influenced a great deal by consumer-driven behaviors and digital tools that consumers expect in their daily lives. As insurers seek more intuitive processes that make the lives of both policy issuers and policyholders a little easier, equity investments from an outside source are flowing into insurance-focused fintech companies to empower the online channel, mobile applications, cloud services, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery models. Aite Group’s newest report, Global Investments in Insurtech: Digitalization Taking Hold, explores equity investments into fintech companies from an outside source.
“Investors consistently place their funds in deals that bring empowerment to individuals, whether it be in the form of providing tools for comparison shopping or giving consumers the ability to tailor their insurance plans and policies using all channels, regardless of time or place,” explains Inci Kaya, analyst at Aite Group. “Health insurers that can overlay this ’empowerment’ theme into their distribution and marketing channel, as well as their consumer- or enterprise-facing services, will be well-positioned to leverage investor insights into their own businesses,” she adds.
