Cambridge, ON (Feb. 20, 2018) – Cowan Insurance Group, a leading Canadian insurance brokerage and consulting firm, has announced the addition of a new role to its leadership team. Pamela Derksen will take on the role of Vice President, Operations and Product Development, Commercial Insurance. The addition of this role to Cowan’s leadership team will directly support the focus on strategic growth for the commercial insurance business.
As the VP, Operations and Product Development for the commercial insurance line of business, Pamela will be responsible to ensure the effectiveness of the operations supporting commercial insurance. The focus on commercial includes execution of digital solutions that align with client needs, maintaining strong relationships with markets to further leverage Cowan’s position as a leading independent national broker, managing operational efficiency to drive profitability, and supporting and developing talent.

Pamela brings with her over twenty years of insurance experience, with a focus on large commercial business, oil and gas, and manufacturing. Prior to joining Cowan, Pamela held the role of VP, Operations and represented business operations on large technology projects, reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer at a large insurer. Her responsibility was to ensure Brokers were ready for the delivery of new products and workflows on a new platform for personal insurance and small commercial auto.
Pamela has a degree from the University of Calgary where she studied economics and politics. She also holds her F.C.I.P. designation from the Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta, in addition to a Certificate in Executive Leadership from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business.
