Introducing Cookhouse Lab

The first insurance open innovation lab

Toronto, ON (Apr. 24, 2017) – In February, 2017, a new insurance innovation lab located in the heart of Toronto opened its doors exclusively to insurance industry participants.

Cookhouse Lab welcomes life and property & casualty insurance and reinsurance experts from around the globe to join in on developing solutions which address the current and future trends – issues, challenges, opportunities – of insurance.

Unlike internal innovations labs, incubators, or accelerators, Cookhouse Lab’s core mission is solving big insurance problems through open collaborative models with peers, partners, and start-ups in the insurance industry.

Members of Cookhouse Lab work on insurance innovation projects in sprints, each with a duration of between between one and twelve weeks. Each project utilizes a unique Innovation Framework that combines Lean Innovation and Design Thinking. At the end of each open innovation project, a detailed business case and high fidelity prototype will be made available to all project team members.

Cookhouse Lab is currently accepting applications for several innovation projects relevant to the P&C insurance business. Insurance-Canada.ca is thrilled to be participating in the first Blockchain project.

Experience for yourself the value of broader collaboration; partake and join your peers in this innovation journey.

Upcoming Innovation Projects:

  • Blockchain & Insurance – Starts May 8 (4 weeks)
  • Financial Literacy – Starts May 29 (1 Week)

Annual and project based memberships range from $3,000 to $3,500 (CAD) per month. For more information, please visit www.cookhouselab.com or contact us at [email protected] for more details.
