2017 ICTA Nomination. Technology by Kanetix.
To capitalize on the growth of the mobile marketplace a redesign of the mobile and tablet version of the Auto Quoter was required.
With the introduction of the redesigned auto quoter, smartphone customers will be able to take a picture of their driver’s license barcode. This is used to prefill questions including claims details in Ontario (up to 17 fields). This creates an improved customer experience by reducing time and effort required to obtain a quote, and it increases accuracy.
TD gains a competitive innovation edge by being the first insurer to introduce “take a picture” capability on the mobile web. The introduction of this new capability was accelerated by the TD Innovation Lab through a Proof of Concept, followed by a quick adoption by TD Insurance.
Driver’s License Barcode Scan Technical Solution
Channels Technology Solutions team developed an API in Java wrapping an open source frame work called ZXing, deployed on Toronto Dominion cloud, running on JBoss.
Visit us at www.tdinsurance.com with your smartphone and start an auto quote: fast-track your quote by answering “take a picture of my license.”
The “take a picture” function leads to an enhanced customer experience as a 37% reduction in time required obtaining a quote. The time reductions and accuracy of the data also lead to significant cost savings in the TD Insurance phone channel. In addition to customer experience improvement and time reduction, additional revenue is expected by improving quote completion rates on both tablet and mobile web platforms.
