Allstate Commits to Supporting Canadian Veterans through Military Employment Transition Program

Allstate Canada becomes member of Canada Company’s MET Program

Markham, ON (June 12, 2015) – Allstate Insurance Company of Canada (Allstate) is very pleased to announce it has made a commitment to hiring Canadian Veterans through the Military Employment Transition (MET) Program established by Canada Company.

The Canada Company MET program was created to encourage and help Canada’s private sector to assist former military members and Veterans with their transition to civilian life, and has assembled a coalition of employer partners working towards finding employment for 10,000 Veterans by 2023. Allstate is pleased and proud to join the initiative and through the partnership, will begin to actively recruit from the military community for various positions in the company across the country.

Notably, Allstate’s own CEO is himself a veteran and is extremely supportive of this initiative. “I transitioned from the military and know how challenging this can be, but I also know that there are many veterans with valuable skills which are transferable to businesses such as ours. This is a win for us and for the communities in which we do business,” says John O’Donnell, President and CEO of Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. “We feel this partnership is a natural fit for Allstate based on our culture, vision and as an AON Hewitt Best Employer for three years in a row.”

Veterans interested in working for Allstate will benefit from employment opportunities across Canada, extensive training and development for those joining our sales and claims divisions, as well as wellness programs to support a healthy workplace.

Canada Company’s web-based platform provides education, tools and on-line services that connect veteran-friendly employers from across Canada with transitioning military members and Veterans looking for jobs. Allstate’s participation in this program will allow the company to tap into a great talent pool, possessing a wide range of skill sets. Allstate will also have the opportunity to attend recruiting fairs, Canada Company conferences where there is strong participation from the military community, as well as interact with other private sector partners and share best practices in terms of hiring former military personnel.
