A unique new offer for electric car owners and a collaboration with AVÉQ
Montreal, QC (Apr. 21, 2015) – Electric-powered transportation is becoming more accessible and more popular every year. And Quebec is out in front of the trend. With nearly 5,500 electric vehicles on the road, La Belle Province accounts for half the electric vehicles in Canada.
Intact Insurance is proud to contribute to the growth of electric vehicle use in Quebec by moving forward on two fronts:
- A unique offer for electric vehicle owners;
- Support to the Association des Véhicules électriques du Québec (AVÉQ) for its mission of education and promotion around electric-powered transportation.
An electrifying discount
From now on, electric vehicle owners receive a 20% discount on their automobile insurance premium.
This preferred rating, which applies to personal automobile insurance, is our way to recognize our environmentally responsible customers.
As the largest P&C insurance company in the country, we encourage consumers who want to reduce or stop their carbon emissions, a leading cause of the changing weather patterns whose effects we see in the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events like heavy rains, windstorms, hail, ice storms, etc.
Our employees are also aware of the new global climate reality and they can also count on our support to power their electric mobility. It is in this perspective that seven charging stations are now available at our offices. Other charging stations should be added soon.
More advantages for those who plug in
On top of the premium discount, new customers who insure their electric vehicle (EV) with Intact Insurance will be given a year’s free membership in the Association des Véhicules électriques du Québec, which opens the door to numerous exclusive benefits including a discount on the purchase price of a charger for their home.
A partnership for the future
A leader in auto insurance in Quebec and across Canada, Intact Insurance also stands out for its leadership in climate change adaptation and in efforts to reduce our society’s carbon footprint.
Electric mobility is one of the avenues we can take to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, one way to reduce our emissions of CO2.
Intact Insurance is going down this road by collaborating with the Association des Véhicules électriques du Québec to help AVÉQ pursue its mission to inform the public, stimulate interest in electric-powered transportation, and ultimately contribute to growing the electric vehicle fleet in Quebec.
Intact Insurance and AVÉQ will take part in the 3rd edition of Branchez-Vous, the EV show featuring the largest plug-in vehicle test drive event in Quebec, from April 17 to 19 in Montreal.
About the Association des Véhicules électriques du Québec
Founded in 2013, AVÉQ now has more than 2,000 active members. Its website, aveq.ca, is a reference for EV information.
In addition to its information mandate, the Association participates in many public outreach events and offers a free service that pairs interested consumers with an electric vehicle owner, who volunteers to let them test drive his or her car.
