Dartmouth, NS (Jan. 19, 2015) – Following their successful foray into the Ontario market in 2014, A.P. Reid has announced the opening of their first Business Development Office in Edmonton, Alberta.
“Our goal will be to repeat last year’s successful launch of the A.P. Reid brand in Ontario by first opening a Business Development office and then seeking an existing insurance brokerage to acquire,” said Jamie Reid, president of A.P. Reid Insurance Limited. A.P. Reid is already working with a number of potential acquisition targets in Alberta but it is too early to release any names or specifics.
A long-time employee of A.P. Reid, Kathleen Corkum has relocated to Edmonton to open the new office located at the Steppe Business Centre in Edmonton’s South End.
“Edmonton is an exciting city with lots of growth potential. As A.P. Reid is expanding Nationally, I’m fortunate to be able to move west with my family but still work for an East Coast Family Business,” said the new Western Canada Business Development Manager.
Kathleen has been with A.P. Reid since 2004, most recently holding the position of Manager, Risk & Compliance. “My time managing the National licensing compliance for A.P. Reid allowed me to build an intimate knowledge of the insurance industry in every jurisdiction across Canada. This new challenge brings me back to my sales roots and supports my love of travel and the open road.”
A.P. Reid already has a number of customers in Alberta, many of which are Maritimers who’ve moved west. In addition, A.P. Reid manages several national group insurance programs which are growing rapidly across the country. In June 2014 A.P. Reid opened its National Service Centre with a plan to service customers across Canada from their hometown of Dartmouth, NS. Jamie Reid adds, “our mission is to become Canada’s First Family Owned National Insurance Brokerage. We’re proud that a bi-product of this expansion is providing employment and supporting the local economy here in Nova Scotia”.
