Sovereign partners with IDT911 to offer privacy breach assistance to cyber policyholders

Companies partnered to create specifically designed cyber services to fit the high-risk needs of Sovereign General’s policyholders

Calgary, AB (Oct. 3, 2013) – Sovereign General Insurance Company has announced that it has partnered with IDT911, North America’s premier identity and data risk management services provider. IDT911 delivers proactive and reactive privacy breach services to business policyholders that manage, store, and share data of all kinds, including high-risk customer, credit, patient, and other sensitive information. Included with these services are education, training, and access to experts who assess breach risk and respond should a privacy breach occur.

“At Sovereign we pride ourselves in offering solution-oriented cyber coverage for our policyholders. As we expand this product offering we are excited to enter into a partnership with IDT911. This alliance will enhance our coverage offering and provide additional services for our insureds,” said Robin Hylands, National Product Manager, Technology, Sovereign General. “IDT911’s knowledge of various coverage offerings and their expertise in servicing products in the Canadian market made them the obvious choice for Sovereign General.”

The privacy breach services provided to Sovereign General’s policyholders include:

  • An online breach website featuring exclusive resources to help business owners recognize data risks, as well as federal and provincial compliance laws and their notification requirements;
  • Access to IDT911’s online training tools to help businesses better understand privacy risks and manage their data liabilities;
  • Proactive, on-call professional assistance to help companies enhance their data privacy procedures;
  • Response services to assist breach victims and help them avoid identity fraud;
  • Project management services that will help mitigate the total costs that might be incurred as a result of a privacy breach.

“We’re thrilled that Sovereign General selected us to support this coverage and offer proactive and reactive privacy breach services, especially to those businesses that are usually too high-risk to obtain lower cost cyber offerings,” said Nate Spurrier, Canadian director, IDT911. “Sovereign General has approached this risk in a way that obviously puts policyholders first. Their underwriting approach and willingness to work with brokers on this risk is certainly going to address risks that have traditionally been avoided.”
