Helping ensure a safer drive for Aviva Canada customers

Existing Aviva Canada customers to receive discount from Kal Tire

Toronto, ON (Sept. 24, 2013) – With winter driving just around the corner for many parts of the country, Aviva Canada, one of the country’s leading providers of home, auto, recreational vehicle, group and business insurance, is emphasizing the importance of vehicle safety through a new promotional partnership with Kal Tire, Canada’s largest independent tire dealer.

“Each year, we see an almost 50% increase in auto collisions during the winter months,” said Gerry De Lauro, Vice President of Marketing and Web Strategy for Aviva Canada. “Quality tires are a crucial part of a vehicle’s safety system, and by partnering with a great brand like Kal Tire we are making safety more affordable for both our customers and brokers.”

Under the partnership, Aviva Canada existing customers and brokers in Ontario and Alberta will receive a $100 discount with the purchase of a select set of four winter tires. These include the Hakkapeliitta R or R2 Nordic winter tire or the WRG2 or WRG3, Nokian all-weather tire. Aviva Canada customers will also receive a $50 discount off a set of four alloy rims.

“We are proud to be partnering with Aviva who share our values of family safety and offering great value to Canadian drivers,” says Greg Waring, Vice President, Marketing, Kal Tire.

All discounts are available between September 16 and November 30, 2013.

Founded 60 years ago and with over 240 stores in Canada, Kal Tire is a recognized industry leader in tire retailing and service.

To receive the discount, Aviva Canada existing customers should take their motor vehicle liability insurance card (pink slip) or home insurance policy document into their local Kal Tire store when they purchase tires. Aviva Canada Broker partners should speak with their Business Development Team or visit AvivaPartner.ca for more details.

Some helpful winter driving tips from Aviva Canada and Kal Tire:

  • Invest in snow tires. Snow tires allow drivers to stop up to 40% faster than all-season tires.
  • Drive slowly and keep a safe distance behind the vehicle in front of you.
  • Check road conditions before getting behind the wheel and allow more time to reach your destination.
  • Ensure your tires are in good condition; if uncertain ask at your next vehicle check up.
  • Good vision is critical. Check your wiper blades to ensure they are in good condition.
  • Pack an emergency kit at the start of the season and stow it in your trunk. Kit should include a flashlight, blanket, snow shovel, extra windshield washer fluid and anti-freeze, hazard flares and booster cables.
  • Don’t take any chances. If driving conditions are poor and you don’t need to be on the roads, stay at home.
