Cambridge, ON (Jul. 23, 2013) – The 12th annual Cowan Charity Classic featured two tournaments, one in Waterloo Region on June 17th 2013 and a second tournament in Ottawa on June 25th 2013.
Cowan Insurance Group is pleased to announce that the tournaments raised $50,000; which was matched by The Cowan Foundation for a total donation of $100,000. These funds will be directed towards iSisters Technology Mentoring Career Connections Program in Ottawa and House of Friendship’s Under One Roof campaign in Waterloo Region. Over the history of the tournament, with the support of our insurance company sponsors and participants, we have raised in excess of $480,000 which is matched annually by The Cowan Foundation for total donations of $960,000.
“Through the Cowan Charity Classic, we look to support programs that have the potential for providing clear and compelling positive changes in our communities,” explained Heather McLachlin, President, Cowan Insurance Group. “Cowan has been providing services to non-profits for approximately 85 years, so many of the charities we have been able to support are also clients.”

Examples of recipient organizations from the Cowan Charity Classic are: The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Easter Seals Ontario, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Child Witness Centre, KidsAbility, kidsLink, Family and Children’s Services, The John Howard Society, Pathways to Education, the YMCA, and the Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region.
