Montreal, QC (Jan. 30, 2013) – As principal partner of the Association du transport écolier du Québec (ATEQ) for more than 25 years, Intact Insurance has proudly supported the School Bus Safety Campaign ever since it was first launched.
This year’s campaign will run from February 4 to 15. Once again the theme is “Do You See Me?,” reminding drivers how important it is to watch out for children on and near the road and take extra care around school buses.
This awareness campaign is made up of three components:
- Awareness messages: radio ads and posters for display in schools, driving schools and government buildings.
- Educational materials available to teachers to encourage dialogue with children and promote safe behaviour.
- A leaflet for children to take home to their parents with a message about safe driving, particularly in school zones.
School bus safety is everybody’s business
“At Intact Insurance, we believe insurance is about people. That’s why we are so proud to work with ATEQ and to support their many initiatives which, for more than 25 years, have been helping to make significant improvements in safe school transportation”, says Denis Garneau, Senior Vice President of Intact Insurance for Quebec.
“Across Quebec, those yellow buses cover more than a million kilometres every day. That’s the equivalent of driving around the world 25 times each and every day. The important thing is that they are going this distance safely, thanks to the professionalism of our school bus operators and drivers and the care taken by students and other users of the road”, Mr. Garneau concluded.
In short, school bus safety is everybody’s business, and Intact Insurance is happy to contribute by supporting the ATEQ.
