Economical Insurance supports Palliative Care at Campbellford Memorial Hospital with $10,000 donation in partnership with Newman, Oliver & McCarten Insurance Brokers Ltd.
Campbellford, ON (Jan. 24, 2013) – Economical Insurance is proud to donate $10,000 to Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation for end–of-life/palliative care patients. The funds will go towards the purchase of a new bed fitted with an air mattress specifically designed for palliative patients who are bed ridden. Unlike a standard hospital bed that patients occupy on a short-term basis, a palliative air mattress offers superior weight distribution and comfort, as well as an additional level of patient stability and support.
“The new bed we are buying with Economical’s gift will provide patients with great comfort and will be a great relief to patients and their families during the complex end of life process,” said John Russell, executive director of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“We are delighted that Economical Insurance is giving back to the community in such a big way,” said Calvin Newman, chairman of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation and president of Newman, Oliver & McCarten Insurance Brokers Ltd. “We rely on donations for equipment purchases such as this. My company has represented Economical since 1895, and I am pleased to say that their generous donation will make a big difference to our small hospital.”
“Campbellford Memorial Hospital is located within a region in the province with a high percentage of seniors,” said Russell. “The hospital’s nursing unit is regularly running at capacity with patients at the end stage of life. With the increase in numbers of patients with palliative care needs, these patients spend their final days/weeks/months at the hospital. The hospital strives to relieve their pain and suffering, while assisting the families through this emotional process.”
“Economical is pleased to give back to Campbellford in partnership with Newman, Oliver & McCarten,” said Dianna Fioravanti, Economical’s vice-president, sales, distribution and underwriting operations. “Newman, Oliver & McCarten has been our trusted broker partner in serving the needs of the community for nearly 120 years. This donation meets a definite need at CMH and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to keeping Campbellford a place where many people are proud to call home.”
