Applied Systems receives two technology patents

Innovative technology drives rapid adoption of Applied Systems Epic®

University Park, Ill (Jan. 2, 2013) – Applied Systems announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded the company two patents for technology in Applied Systems Epic, the insurance industry’s fastest growing agency and brokerage management system. The patented technologies provide enhanced data protection and intuitive data presentation capabilities in Epic.

Patent 8,234,219 is for technology that protects potentially sensitive information, such as client Social Security numbers and other confidential information, managed and maintained in Epic. This patented system, method and apparatus for protecting personal data allow insurance organizations to manage clients and policies more effectively, consistently and securely.

Patent 8,290,971 is for technology that intuitively presents information within Epic. This patented method and apparatus efficiently present requested data by comparing the total quantity of displayable data items to the display control size. This enables Epic users to quickly view an optimal mix of requested data to more effectively service clients.

Epic has been rapidly adopted by the insurance industry since it was launched three years ago with more than 600 agencies and brokerages and over 20,000 users now relying on Epic to automate day-to-day operations. Epic’s modern, flexible and secure architecture provides agents and brokers with a single, scalable platform to automate workflows, mitigate risk, reduce operating expenses and drive sustainable growth and profitability.

“To always innovate is core to Applied Systems’ values and corporate culture,” said Reid French, CEO, Applied Systems. “This commitment to innovation is a competitive advantage that drives our business and has enabled us to deliver the industry’s most advanced agency management system in Epic.”
