Toronto, ON (Sept. 18, 2012) – ClaimsPro International (CPI), an independent division of SCM Insurance Services (SCM) offering dedicated international loss adjusting services to London and the international market, has announced today the appointment of Julian Millar as its Managing Director. This appointment further bolsters CPI’s continued growth in the London market, reinforcing its ranks with an experienced and well-known industry professional.
Millar, who joins CPI from QBE, will be responsible for driving the expansion of CPI’s operations and business in the UK and Europe. With a focus on fostering growth within CPI’s core business areas, including the international and UK commercial specialist sector, loss adjusting, and third party administration (TPA), he will support the London market both within the UK and internationally. Millar will also play a lead role in coordinating the growth of London market business in Canada and the US.
Millar will report to Patrick Garuk, Chief International Development Officer of SCM Insurance Services. “Julian will play a key role in ClaimsPro International’s growth strategy going forward. We see significant opportunities to further enhance our UK and European operations. Julian’s wealth of skills and experience at a senior level in the claims industry will be pivotal and will enable us to take full advantage of these potential growth areas,” shares Garuk.

Millar was previously head of property claims at QBE European Operations based in London. He was responsible for the management of QBE’s property claims for both its company and syndicate operations across a wide range of classes of business and for major UK clients. He also represented QBE on a number of key industry and market forums, including PICG (Lloyd’s Market Property committee), the CII Faculty Board, and the ABI Group for the UK 2011 Riot Claims.
Prior to QBE Millar was head of specialist claims operations at the Royal Bank of Scotland Insurance Group. He began his career in claims 25 years ago with Eagle Star before moving to MMA Insurance, and then held senior claims management roles with Chubb Insurance Co. of Europe and Hiscox Insurance Group.
Millar is an Elected Honorary Fellow of The British Damage Management Association, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
