RSA first to deliver electronic documents download using latest CSIO XML standards

EZ-Docs enhancement will improve broker efficiency through CSIOnet

Toronto – July 31, 2012 – Leading property and casualty insurer RSA has introduced a significant enhancement to help increase broker efficiency and streamline workflows.

Many brokers across the country already rely on RSA’s innovative EZ-Docs tool, which offers electronic copies of policy documents replacing the traditional paper broker copy. Now EZ-Docs brokers will have the option of having copies of eligible documents automatically downloaded daily via CSIOnet, using the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO)’s XML standards. Brokers whose systems are capable can have these documents attached directly to their clients within their Broker Management System (BMS) without manual intervention.

RSA is now the first carrier to successfully transmit live policy documents to a broker system using CSIO XML standards. RSA acknowledges these pilot brokers for their commitment to this important industry initiative:

  • Affiliated Insurance Management Inc.
  • Algoma Insurance Brokers Ltd.
  • Bastow Insurance Brokers Ltd.
  • Haas Insurance Group Limited
  • Partners Indemnity Insurance Brokers Ltd.
  • R.J. Brown Insurance Brokers Ltd.

“RSA is very proud to be a leader in implementing a solution that will make such a meaningful impact on brokers’ day to day workflow,” said Steve Knoch, Senior Vice President, IT and eBusiness for RSA. “This has been a major priority for RSA’s eBusiness B2B team and we look forward to a continued partnership with brokers, vendors, and the CSIO in enhancing broker efficiency.”

The pilot stage of this new functionality has begun for select brokers using Zycomp’s PowerBroker, Keal’s sigXP and CSSI’s The Broker’s Workstation. The functionality will be launched to all brokers across the country in the coming weeks subject to their BMS’s capability.

The Insurance Brokers’ Association of Ontario (IBAO) has also expressed support for RSA’s work on this initiative. “IBAO applauds RSA’s development and announcement of their implementation of the CSIO E-docs standard today,” said Insurance Brokers’ Association of Ontario (IBAO) President Rick Orr. “Direct electronic document download to a broker’s BMS provides increased efficiencies, improves the speed at which a broker copy of documents is available for a broker to review and satisfies our regulatory requirements. IBAO is pleased to see RSA as a leader in this development, and encourages other insurers to follow their lead and implement this solution.”

In order to provide a system that is compatible with a wide range of broker workflows, EZ-Docs will continue to offer other document management options, including the self-service archive for brokers who would prefer to access documents on RSA’s system, as well as customizable bulk downloads of documents based on criteria chosen by the broker.

CSIO President Catherine Smola said, “CSIO is committed to creating and upholding service standards that will increase the ease of doing business for brokers and insurers. We are pleased to see RSA take a leadership role in implementing these standards for their broker partners.”
