IBAO: Does Your Brokerage Have the “It” Factor

Beyond Best in Class promises to provide brokerages with the tools they need to become leading edge Brokerages.

February 21, 2012 – (Toronto, Ontario) In an ever changing world, the way brokers conduct business has evolved exponentially, and consumers’ expectations have drastically been altered. Today, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is introducing the 2012 dates of its premier five-part development program, “Beyond Best in Class” (BBiC). The Beyond Best in Class program utilizes the power of collaboration and innovation to tackle real challenges within the brokerage business.

The 2012 offering will be limited to 40 Brokerages, and each offering will also have geographical restrictions in place so competing brokerages will not be present in the same session, stated IBAO CEO Randy Carroll, “given the content and discussion that takes place, it is imperative that neighbouring brokerages located within the same trading area not be in the same session,” said Carroll.

Each session begins with a collaborative information sharing session on the changing landscape of consumer expectations, as well as in depth review of consumer intelligence reports. There are dynamic discovery exercises that bring real issues and challenges to the forefront in order to address and overcome them. BBiC provides participants with the knowledge, insights and tools to encourage brokers to ‘change the way they think’ about their employees, clients, insurance company partners and day-to-day business operations.

Carroll went on to state “It’s important for brokers to know that what got us here today is not going to keep us here tomorrow. With this, comes a tremendous opportunity to lead this non-stop evolution within the insurance world. We want our brokers to know that they have the power to avoid becoming a follower.”

The first session for 2012 will be held in Toronto on March 27-29 followed by June 27-28 at the Westin Prince Hotel.

Additional sessions will be held in Barrie commencing on May 15-17, finishing on September 6-7, Cambridge sessions begin on September 26-27 with completion on January 23-24 (2013). The final offering will take place in Niagara from December 4-6 and finishes on March 6-7(2013).

“This program has changed how we think about our business,” stated recent program graduate Steve Wagler, Partner of Josslin Insurance Brokers Ltd. “It really is helpful to take a look at what we do from an operational perspective and really leave that behind and dig deeper into where we need to go.”

“Beyond Best in Class is not about getting better, it’s about being different, embracing your ability to think and create,” concluded Carroll.
