The Co-operators expands in Gasp�sie with acquisition of local insurance brokerage

MONTREAL, Jan. 14 2011 – Co-operators announced today that it has acquired, along with an investment partner, the personal lines insurance operations of a brokerage based in Caplan, in the Gasp�sie region of Quebec. Assurances Claude Paquet’s personal lines operations will begin operating as the newest Co-operators office, with Nathalie Paquet as Co-operators representative, on January 17, 2011.

The portfolio includes approximately 3,200 insureds. Personal lines clients of Assurances Claude Paquet will be notified of the change in ownership, and their insurance coverage will remain in effect with no changes to their premiums or coverage for the current term of their policies. As the policies lapse, customers will be offered similar policies from Co-operators General Insurance Company. All staff of the brokerage’s personal lines operations will be offered positions with The Co-operators. Assurances Claude Paquet will continue to operate as an independent broker, and its existing commercial insurance book of business will not be affected.

MONTR�AL, le 14 janv. 2011 – La Compagnie d’assurance g�n�rale Co-operators a annonc� aujourd’hui qu’elle a fait l’acquisition, en partenariat avec un autre investisseur, des op�rations en lignes personnelles d’un cabinet de courtage situ� � Caplan, en Gasp�sie. En effet, d�s le 17 janvier 2011, la division des lignes personnelles d’Assurances Claude Paquet deviendra la plus r�cente succursale Co-operators en sol qu�b�cois et Nathalie Paquet en sera la repr�sentante principale.

Le portefeuille acquis compte un peu plus de 3200 assur�s. Les clients particuliers d’Assurances Claude Paquet seront avis�s sous peu du changement de propri�taire, et leur couverture d’assurance demeurera la m�me jusqu’� �ch�ance, sans incidence sur la prime ou le terme de leur police. Par la suite, lors du renouvellement de leurs contrats, les clients se verront offrir un produit �quivalent chez Co-operators. Tous les employ�s du cabinet qui travaillaient en assurance des particuliers conserveront leur emploi, mais deviendront graduellement des employ�s de Co-operators. De son c�t�, Assurances Claude Paquet continuera ses op�rations en tant que courtier ind�pendant en assurance des entreprises, et le portefeuille existant dans cette ligne d’affaires ne sera pas affect� par cette transaction.
