Zurich and CME announce strategic alliance to offer manufacturers more coverage

TORONTO — January 12, 2011 – Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) and Zurich Canada today announced a strategic business alliance that will help Canadian manufacturers and exporters thrive during the fragile economic recovery.

Canada’s leading trade and industry association and Zurich Canada are joining forces to provide CME members with a wide suite of products. As
CME’s preferred business insurance provider, Zurich Canada is offering additional manufacturing insurance coverages at no additional charge for those manufacturers who place their business insurance with Zurich.

“In these tough economic times, it’s our mission to make a difference for our membership,” says CME President & CEO, Jayson Myers. “Associating with an industry leader like Zurich Canada, not only helps our members save money, but reinforces our commitment to provide superior services from the
best suppliers for Canadian manufacturers and exporters, all at the best cost.”

“At Zurich Canada, we’ve been focused on providing the best insurance solutions for Canadian manufacturers for over 50 years now, so joining
forces with the CME is a natural fit for us,” says Martin Lynch, national director, Manufacturing Middle Market, Zurich Canada. “CME has been the
foremost voice of Canada’s manufacturing sector for more than 100 years and we were looking to team up with the best of the best. That’s what we found
with the CME – an organization that puts Canadian manufacturers’ and exporters’ interests first.”

The new savings program provides CME members with extra insurance protection in three critical areas: $50,000 in coverage for manufacturers’
errors and omissions insurance, another $50,000 worth of coverage for enhanced pollution liability and $100,000 of coverage for terrorism against
property. To make the additional insurance available to more members, Zurich Canada has dropped its minimum premium to $20,000 from its standard
$25,000 minimum – exclusively for CME members. Members should contact their insurance broker to ensure they receive a Zurich quote.

“This is just the beginning of a long-term relationship with Zurich Canada,” Myers adds. “We intend to work together to address the
ever-changing risk needs of manufacturers and exporters across Canada.”

The Zurich Canada offering adds to CME”s customized member supplier program that features discounts on forklifts through Canadian Forklift Distributors Limited; reduced rates on home and auto insurance through Tripemco Burlington Insurance Group Limited; solutions to reduce your energy
consumption and costs and preferred rates on outsourcing of IT through ProFitness Advisors Group Limited and labour dispute management,
supplemental labour, employee investigations and high risk termination training and response intelligence in partnership with AFI International Group Inc.
