Icy weather beginning to create hazardous road conditions
Toronto, ON, October 28, 2010 – As colder weather arrives and roads begin to get icy, Zurich’s customers can now access Zurich’s Spill Reporting Online System, an online service that will assist companies with the cleanup of spills if any of their company vehicles is involved in an accident that requires emergency environmental spill clean-up.
Zurich, a leading provider of commercial property and casualty insurance globally and in Canada, first launched the online service in 2008 for Zurich’s Environmental Transportation customers in the U.S.
Zurich’s Spill Reporting Online System helps customers deal with both the physical and financial aspects of an environmental spill. In addition, Spill Reporting Online System assists in:
- Dispatching timely cleanup contractors, which may reduce costs associated with environmental releases resulting from accidents
- Tracking changes in current environmental reporting regulations and contact information, which may help Zurich customers avoid fees and penalties if they miss reporting deadlines
- Oversight of spill cleanup activities to ensure the scope of work being performed is reasonable and necessary
Zurich’s Spill Reporting Online System is available 24-hours a day and leverages the experience of Spill Center, Inc., an environmental emergency response company specializing in investigation and remediation of hazardous materials releases.
According to Bob Winterburn, head of value-added services for Zurich’s Environmental business, Zurich’s customers say the service helps them be prepared to respond to an emergency cleanup of hazardous materials, fuel or other regulated materials.
