Providence Mutual Fire Insurance chooses iter8

June 7, 2009: (Toronto) – iter8 Inc., an insurance solutions software developer, is pleased to announce that The Providence Mutual Fire Insurance Company (Providence Mutual) has selected iter8 to implement a new modern, connected agent portal.

Providence Mutual operates in New England, New York and New Jersey, through a network of over 300 independent agents. Helen Govoni, AVP Information Systems for Providence Mutual led the team charged with finding a modern portal solution that could deliver superior “ease of doing business” for these agents, and ensure Providence Mutual was their carrier of choice. Govoni commented, “We were searching for a portal solution that would provide our agents, and our underwriters – through an underwriter desktop – with full functionality, ease of use, and a workflow that reflects their individual needs. It needed to be flexible and be accessible the way they wanted, through a direct log-in, or connected to their Agency Management Systems or comparative raters.”

After a detailed assessment of their requirements Providence Mutual began the search process at the start of 2009. They selected iter8 because the iter8 agent portal solution, collabor8®, ideally suited their needs. It was extremely flexible and could be configured to reflect the Providence Mutual mix of personal and commercial lines, integrate with third party data sources, and provide agents and underwriters with an intuitive, user-friendly interface. The iter8 rules engine enabled Providence Mutual to position underwriting rules at the point-of-sale, configured by business users in a manner that can coordinate straight-through-processing and manage agent workflow in an intuitive manner.

Sandy Parrillo, President and CEO of Providence Mutual said, “An effective, fully functional agent portal is of high strategic importance to both Providence Mutual and our agents. To develop the portal we were looking to form a partnership with a firm we could work with over the long term. iter8 is that firm. They are the right choice for Providence Mutual and we are looking forward to a successful relationship.”

The Providence Mutual modern, connected Agent Portal will handle both Personal and Commercial Lines, and include:

  • Quick Quote
  • Policy Inquiry
  • New Business Application Submission
  • Agent and Underwriter Collaboration
  • Policy Endorsements/Policy Change
  • Integration to third-party comparative raters and Agency Management Systems

Glen Piller, President and CEO of iter8 stated, “I could not be more thrilled that iter8 is able to partner with Providence Mutual. We are committed to ensure the Agent Portal meets Providence Mutuals needs over both the short and long term, and we look forward to working with the team of experts at Providence Mutual.

The new connected portal is designed to offer agents “ease of doing business” and provide them with connected real-time request response capabilities to provide superior service to their clients.

The project will begin immediately, with milestone deliverables targeted for the end of 2009.
