IBAO Awards Anna Pyle Memorial Sponsorship at OSAID Annual Conference
TORONTO, May 19, 2009 – The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is proud to announce that Rosanna Beattie is the 2009 recipient of the Anna Pyle Memorial Scholarship. The award was handed out recently at the IBAO-sponsored Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) Annual Conference at Sheridan College in Oakville.
The IBAO-sponsored scholarship, named in honour of Anna Pyle an Ontario high school student who was killed by a drunk driving in the 1980s, is awarded to a deserving OSAID student each year who demonstrates outstanding community involvement and leadership.
Beattie, a student at Frontenac Secondary School in Kingston, is very active in her local OSAID Chapter and actively works to increase student awareness against impaired driving by working with many local organizations and groups to educate Ontario’s teens about the dangers of impaired driving.
“Rosanna is a great leader and there is no one more deserving of this opportunity,” said IBAO CEO Randy Carroll “We’re happy to support a shining star whose passion and dedication to her community matches the passion Ontario’s brokers have for making our communities a better place.”
IBAO has supported OSAID for over a decade by having many of its member brokers fund local students to attend the OSAID Conference, by having the Association be a major sponsor of the Conference, and by providing funding for many of its important province-wide initiatives.
Insurance brokers are known for their commitment to their community and keeping Ontarians safe. Their on-going support of OSAID and their goal for the reduction and elimination of alcohol and other drug related injury and death among Ontario’s teams is an example of how insurance brokers look out for their community’s safety and peace of mind.
