Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Rolls out New Commercial Lines Portal for Underwriters and Brokers: iter8

March 19, 2009: (Toronto) – iter8 Inc., an insurance solutions software developer, is pleased to announce that Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance (Bay of Quinte) has launched a new broker portal, using iter8s market leading software.

The new portal will provide a single point of entry to the Bay of Quinte for their suite of commercial packages.

This includes:

  • Retail
  • Church
  • Contractor
  • Office
  • Apartment Owners

Brokers can now log in and submit new business quoting, endorsements and policy binding through the Bay of Quinte portal. This will greatly improve accuracy and completeness of the information, which had been previously received in a variety of manners and formats. In this way Bay of Quinte can improve the timeliness of response, the accuracy of response and the overall ease of doing business.

The portal is more than a front-end to the Bay of Quinte policy administration system. Instead it represents a new user interface, with underwriting rules operational at the point of sale the broker desktop. Workflows have been refreshed and customized, while new CSIO based forms ensure data is accurate, eligible and complete. Collaboration between underwriter and broker is enhanced reducing information cycling, reconciling information, and completing gaps.

Jeff Howell, Bay of Quinte General Manager, stated The commercial portal represents an important first step in our plans as we chart a steady course to meet our long term goals. The portal will provide significant benefits to both our underwriters and to independent brokers.

The new portal is user friendly and is highly configurable by business users. This proved to be important to the subject matter experts at the Bay of Quinte. They were able to assist greatly in system set-up and the development of workflows, and in this way reduce project risk and project costs through the investment of their time and effort.

The Bay of Quinte will focus on a successful roll out of the portal and on efforts to maximize usage of the portal. Next steps will see the iter8 and Bay of Quinte teams focus on expanded broker connectivity, so that brokers have the choice to input directly into the Commercial Lines portal, or to start transactions within their BMS.

Glen Piller, President of iter8, remarked the investment made by Bay of Quinte in the commercial lines portal, and in planned future broker connectivity, demonstrates the foresight of the Bay of Quinte executive group. They have Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Rolls out New Commercial Lines Portal for Underwriters and Brokers invested to position themselves to beat their competitors, deliver improved service and effectively control costs. He added, iter8 is extremely pleased to work with such a progressive, forward thinking mutual insurer, and we are excited about continuing to build a long term partnership.
