Toronto, August, 2008 – The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) is pleased that Economical Insurance Group and Optimum General have agreed to maintain their investment at the Full Partner level and is pleased to welcome Canadian Northern Shield as a new Full Partner of the Broker Identity Program for 2008.
“The Economical Insurance Group has been supporting brokers for over 135 years and we are proud to be a true partner with brokers,” said Noel Walpole, President and CEO of The Group. “Our sole distribution channel is that of the broker network. Well continue to expand our range of products and services to support the success of our brokers. We think that insurance brokers have done a good job in developing the BIPPER and know that the program is promoting a positive message to the insuring public, politicians and regulators,” added Walpole.
“Being a Canadian insurer that exclusively distributes its products through insurance brokers, Optimum is proud to continue to be part of this national program. Along with our many local projects, it is a tangible initiative that carries on our commitment to the broker distribution system and fully supports the significant contribution brokers provide by the advice, choice and coverage they offer their clients”, said Jean-Claude Pagé, President and CEO of Optimum General.
“Canadian Northern Shields decision to become a full partner of IBAC is the result of our commitment to brokers.” said Rowan Saunders, CEO. “By speaking with a united voice, insurance brokers communicate effectively and succinctly the concerns affecting their profession to legislators and other decision makers.” added Saunders.
IBAC Chief Executive Officer Dan Danyluk added: “The increase in the number of insurers investing in the program proves that they recognize the value insurance brokers bring their clients. The company has a long and well-established history and is a valuable partner to its brokers.”
The Broker Identity Program was launched in 1989 by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada. It is a branding campaign for over 32,000 insurance brokers and in 2008 is supported by more than twenty leading insurance companies.
Founded in 1921, the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada is a federation of 11 provincial and regional associations of property and casualty insurance brokers. For more information, visit www.ibac.ca.
