ACORD Launches New Chinese Mini-Site

Latest Web Site Development to Serve Needs of Different Geographic Members

PEARL RIVER, NY & LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – May 20, 2007 – With growing interest in ACORD standards around the globe, ACORD launched its first mini-site focused on a specific geographic area. In this case, the site is for China and in Mandarin Chinese (www.acord.org/china). It provides basic information on ACORD, standards, and the benefits of standards development and implementation that will resonate with that audience.

“With the recent signing of China Life as an ACORD member along with solution providers domiciled in China, we saw value in providing information to that market in their native language. It’s essential that we provide the support and information needed to all of our members, regardless of where they are located and what language they speak,” said Rick Gilman, vice president, ACORD. He added that “while English is often regarded as the universal language of business, providing information in a variety of languages will go a long way to getting ACORD’s message across and driving adoption of industry standards.”

This is the first of what is expected to be several new geographic-specific mini-sites. ACORD currently maintains many “Global Market” pages on the main ACORD Web site (www.acord.org) and launched pages in Japanese following a conference there a few years ago. Mini-sites are an evolution of those concepts, brought to a new level.

Gilman added that “this is part of an overall drive to provide members with information, resources, video and content not only in English, but in a variety of languages to meet the needs of our diverse membership. Our China mini-site is only the beginning.”
