Analyst report highlights SAS’ strengths in risk data management, analytics and reporting
CARY, NC (Dec. 18, 2006) – Yet another analyst report has confirmed SAS leadership in the enterprise risk management space. SAS, the leader in business intelligence, was ranked first in the core risk technology category and second overall in Chartis Researchs RiskTech 100 report. The report, an overall market assessment of the top risk technology vendors, examined each vendors functionality, core technology, organizational strength, customer satisfaction and market presence.
Our top ranking speaks volumes for SAS leadership in the risk market, said Peyman Mestchian, SAS Director of Risk Management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Core technology is the foundation for effective enterprise risk management and SAS technology is unmatched.
Chartis believes that the traditional silo-based approach to managing risks adds little value to the business. As a result, core technology platforms [such as SAS become] enablers of change.
Applauding the companys breadth of offerings, the Chartis report states that SAS key strength is its superior data management and risk analytics capabilities, providing the ability to offer a true end-to-end solution.
While Chartis highlights both SAS Credit Risk Management for Banking and SAS OpRisk Management as software market leaders, SAS also provides offerings that address anti-money laundering, fraud detection and asset liability management.
The RiskTech 100 core technology category examined each vendors capabilities in data management, risk analytics and reporting. Noting that SAS is very strong in the areas of data integration, data storage for analytics and data quality management. Chartis highlights those areas as critical to the success of any risk technology project.
In risk analytics, Chartis named SAS an industry leader in performing complex analysis of large amounts of data with SAS optimisation routines and data handling capabilities [providing] superior performance (time and cost) over most of its competitors.
For reporting technology, Chartis recognized that SAS business intelligence (BI) capabilities provide a flexible environment for customers to define and generate risk measurement and monitoring information which facilitate a two-way interaction between users and systems allowing for risk diagnostics, scenario analysis and key risk indicator monitoring.
Last month, SAS was positioned in the Leaders quadrant by Gartner Inc. in its Magic Quadrant for Basel II Software Applications, 2006 report.
