CIP Society Announces 2006 Fellow of Distinction Award Recipient – J.R. (Bob) Tisdale

Toronto (December 11, 2006) The CIP Society, a division of The Insurance Institute of Canada, announced today that J.R. (Bob) Tisdale, MBA, FCIP, CRM, president and chief operating officer of both Pembridge Insurance Company and Pafco Insurance Company and vice president of Allstate Canada Group has been selected by the nomination review committee as the 2006 recipient of the GTA Fellow of Distinction Award.

The Fellow of Distinction Award was created to recognize outstanding achievement in the insurance industry in Toronto. Colleagues nominate insurance professionals for The Fellow of Distinction Award, which is presented annually to a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP).

In making this announcement, Carla Blackmore, FCIP, CRM, chair of the CIP Society � Ontario and vice-president of Zurich Canada said, �Bob Tisdale�s remarkable ability to spend quality time with his family, contribute to his community, be a role model for minor league hockey players, serve in leadership roles for his employer, conduct training and participate on industry committees all while continuing to take courses and obtain designations is definitely an inspiration to others.�

When he joined the insurance industry in 1978, Bob Tisdale was one course short of completing his final year of high school. Since then, while working full-time in the industry, he completed grade 13, attained his CIP in 1982, his FCIP with a Management major in 1989, a certificate in continuing education and second Fellowship major in Risk Management in 1989. In 2001, still working full-time he completed an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Bob is currently chair of the Facility Association, past president of the Insurance Institute of Ontario and a past regional chair for The Insurance Institute of Canada. He actively participates on the IBC Auto Insurance Reform Steering Committee and the Facility Association Redesign Committee. He also chairs the United Way Leadership Campaign for Allstate Canada Group.

In learning about his award Tisdale said, �I am honoured to have been chosen for this award and proud to be part of an industry that has given so much back to me. I am equally proud that I was able to complete my education and in particular an MBA, while working full-time.�

Bob has been honoured previously by the insurance industry with the James Richardson Award and the Centennial Award. In 2003, he was selected for the Lakefield District Secondary School Wall of Honor.

The 2006 Fellow of Distinction Award will be presented to Bob Tisdale at The CIP Society�s New Fellow�s Reception at the National Club January 18, 2007.
