Canada’s Home Insurers Applaud Release Of Brochure

“Insuring Old Homes in Nova Scotia”

HALIFAX, June 28, 2006 – Insurers today announced support and appreciation for a special brochure called “Insuring Old Homes in Nova Scotia.”

“We’re pleased that anyone in Nova Scotia who owns a heritage home has more information today on the insurance options available to them,” says Don Forgeron, Vice-President, Atlantic, Insurance Bureau of Canada. “This brochure helps get out the message that insurance for heritage homes is widely available at a reasonable price.

“This brochure is the result of considerable work and dedication of many parties. Everyone, from the provincial government, Halifax Regional Municipality, the Provincial Heritage Property Owners’ Association of Nova Scotia, Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, to the many partners in the insurance industry, are to be congratulated,” says Forgeron.

“This brochure is the result of the kind of outreach with consumers that we know works. Whether it’s heritage homes or the voluntary and non-profit sectors, we know that this proactive approach of sitting down with insurance consumers helps us understand their situation and makes it more possible to meet their needs,” adds Forgeron.

Insurance Bureau of Canada is the national trade association of the private property and casualty insurance industry. It represents more than 90% of the non-government home, car and business insurance in Canada. For more information, visit www.ibc.ca.
