NATICK, MA MAY 25, 2006 – Marshall & Swift / Boeckh (MSB), an MDA company and the leading worldwide provider of commercial and residential building cost data and estimating technology to the property insurance industry, unveils enhancements to its industry-leading commercial property valuation application, BVS(TM). The enhancements reflect MSB’s continuing support of the commercial insurance market with products and services that improve underwriting workflow efficiency, valuation accuracy, and overall profitability of commercial property portfolios. The announcement is part of a presentation to an audience of executives from large commercial insurers attending an invitation-only forum.
“The impact of catastrophic events of the last two years has brought heightened awareness and focus on Insurance to Value from property owners, risk managers and carriers as well as from legislators, regulators, rating organizations, and the financial sector,” says Mark Burkhart, Sales Vice President at MSB. “MSB is at the forefront of property valuation and working hard to provide enhancements to our commercial property solutions to meet these challenges both today and into the future.”
In his remarks Burkhart acknowledges the important role client feedback plays in product design. He also introduces MSB’s sister companies DataQuick, a premier provider of real estate information solutions, and MindBox, a provider of award-winning rule and case-based decisioning systems, and outlines the greater opportunities they offer for book of business management.
BVS has been enhanced to display all system-generated material assumptions included in the valuation calculation. Access to the assumptions allows users to quickly verify and accept or amend features and materials incorporated into the valuation calculations, improving the accuracy of each valuation. Other key enhancements are import/export functions that enable file exports from the desktop version of BVS into the Web-hosted version and import of Microsoft Excel building schedules into BVS.
BVS is a workflow-driven commercial, agricultural, institutional and industrial building valuation application especially designed to meet the needs of underwriters, brokers, risk managers and field inspectors. BVS is delivered an Internet application via hosting on MSB Express(TM), a secure Web platform. It is also available as a network or desktop application.
