Richmond, British Columbia, April 4, 2006 – Last week four members of the TU Group of Companies supported the Canadian Cancer Society Tour de Coast in raising funds for children living with cancer by participating in a signature head shave event to kickoff cancer awareness month in April. The donation, totaling $8,355, was presented to the Canadian Cancer Society Tour de Coast last Wednesday.
Kudos to the senior management team of Taka Katsube, Michael Starko, Patrick Robinson and Peter Smith who allowed staff to shave their heads if the staff could meet the fundraising target of $1000. Staff surpassed that goal and TU Group agreed to match dollar for dollar the amount of money raised by staff. The organization was also successful in inviting business partners to donate funds to the head shave event for charity.
The Tour de Coast is a partnership with Law Enforcement Officers who ride over 700 kilometres through the Greater Vancouver Region in September to raise funds to help benefit children and families living with cancer.
The TU Group provides travel and health insurance products and services, international assistance for travellers and health care management services. It is CHALLENGING all insurance companies to make or surpass their donation to the Canadian Cancer Society Tour de Coast.
“It is a great cause and really created excitement among our staff. We already have one person volunteering for next year’s head shave!” said Patrick Robinson, CEO of the TU Group.
