February 01, 2006 – “Developing an Environmental Risk Management Strategy is a new online course that trains risk managers on how to develop and execute a proactive environmental strategy. The course is offered through a partnership of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) and Environmental Strategist, Inc. Todays culture of growing environmental accountability, including FIN 47, Sarbanes Oxley, ISO 14000, the SECs SAB 92 ruling, Brownfield redevelopment, terrorism and more has clearly made environmental issues an everyday concern affecting profitability.
One of the most critical questions for business leaders today is who is your environmental strategist and how is the environment impacting business, says Chris Bunbury, president and founder of Environmental Strategist, Inc. RIMS is one of the first organizations to endorse this concept and share it with its members.
Through case studies, reference library articles, and discussion forums, participants will learn how to proactively use competitive environmental intelligence to minimize environmental exposures and improve company profitability. The course focuses on mitigating environmental risks such as mold, CCA-treated (arsenic) lumber, silica dust, and sick building syndrome, by reducing liability exposures, litigation, business interruption, compliance costs, and disposal expenses. The course content contains modules to illustrate the consequences of reactive strategies compared to the many advantages of adopting a proactive environmental strategy.
Credit from the course will also qualify towards the RIMS Fellow (RF) designation.
