“Interviewing and Statement Taking Techniques”: ISB Claim Information Training School

You are invited to attend the ISB Claim Training Seminar �Interviewing and Statement Taking Techniques� on Friday Oct 21,2005. This is the third in a series of regularly scheduled seminars designed to provide claim professionals with the knowledge and tools they need in conducting claim investigations. The seminar will be held at the ISB Corporate Head Office in Milton Ontario.

The October 21, 2005 session will focus on proven Interviewing and Statement Taking Techniques including:

  • Recorded vs Non Recorded Statements

  • Accident Benefits statement taking methods

  • The proper use of language translators in the interview and statement taking process.

  • How cultural differences affect interviews and statement taking.

Guest Lecturers for this session include:

Frank J.M. Wozniak: With over 30 years experience as a member of the Toronto Police Service, 26 of those in the investigative field, Frank is an expert in forensic statement taking and interviewing techniques. Frank is a Certified Forensic Polygraph Examiner and has taught thousands of investigators the latest techniques in conducting interviews and detecting deception through verbal, non verbal and written communications. Frank is the founder of Toronto Polygraph Services and offers services to the Federal, Provincial and private sectors.

Sue Collings: As a member of the Royal & SunAlliance Special Investigations Unit, Sue specializes in accident benefit fraud cases. A former Toronto Police Officer, with a background in fraud investigations with Bell Mobility and Zurich Canada, Sue will present statement and interviewing taking techniques to assist accident benefit adjusters in obtaining the required information during the investigation of an AB loss.

Thomas Pham: The Founder of TK International Communications, Thomas has extensive experience in the use of translators in interview and statement taking. During his 12 years as a Vietnamese interpreter he has gained first hand knowledge of the proper method to be used when using the service of a translator during the interview process. Thomas also has a deep understanding of the Vietnamese culture and will instruct the class on how knowledge of a culture can be advantageous when conducting an interview and taking a statement.
