ORLANDO, FL – May 23, 2005 – The 13th Annual ACORD Awards ceremony recognizing achievements in ACORD data standards implementations was held at a special luncheon during the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum in Orlando.
In his welcome to the winners, and the 250 attendees of the awards luncheon, Gregory A. Maciag, president and CEO, ACORD, emphasized the importance of standards and the fact that “implementation is what it is all about.”
In his remarks, ACORD Board Chairman Charles “Chuck” McCaig, CIO, Chubb congratulated the winners for more their accomplishments in difficult times. “In a year of industry-wide turmoil, you forged ahead and worked to improve our industry through data standards,” McCaig said. He added that in addition to their ACORD Awards, they they “will be recognized by the industry as a whole for your leadership in data standards implementation.”
The awards were presented by Denise Garth, vice president, Membership and Development, ACORD and Ron Dudley, vice president, Standards, ACORD. “Communication is vital to survival in our world. And you have led the way by increasing efficiency and improving communications both internally and externally. You are to be applauded not just for these awards, but for your overall efforts and for your leadership,” said Garth.
With eight awards, this year’s biggest winner was Web Connectivity. For carriers, this year’s multi-award winners included Frankenmuth Mutual Group, Prudential Financial, and ACUITY. Solution providers had many multi-award winners including AMS Services, Applied Systems, and Fiserv.
A sought after category with numerous companies recognized for achievement was the Industry Leadership for Straight Through Processing Award. This year, ACORD recognized ACUITY, BISYS, Aon Reinsurance, Inc., Applied Systems, Inc., Blue Frog Solutions, Benfield, Liberty Regional Agency Markets, Hartford Life Insurance Company, Web Connectivity, Ohio Casualty Group, Fiserv, Inc., XL Reinsurance America, Computer Science Corporation, ALEA, New York Life Insurance, eReinsure, and Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.
