Feed The Minds of Youth 2004: IIO

For those insurance organizations who participated in The Learning Partnerships: Take Our Kids to Work event (TOKW), the Insurance Institute of Ontario (IIO) hosted a lunch event that brought together a variety of industry professionals with grade nine students across Ontario. Students spent part of the day with their parent or guardian at their work place and received a general idea of the operation. With this lunch event, they were exposed to the many careers available within the property and casualty insurance industry and to see how they work together.

On Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004, Ontario local chapters of the Insurance Institute and their council hosted a complimentary FEED THE MINDS OF YOUTH luncheon. Many insurance organizations were enthusiastic about including their staff and their staffs children in this worthwhile event. Students received a Take Our Kids to Work t-shirt and Career Connections kit that reinforces what they learned at the luncheon.

The IIO and Career Connections designed this event to illustrate our commitment to informing youth of the multitude of career opportunities available to them. Beyond the luncheon, the Career Connections program features a range of multi-media materials targeted to distinct student audiences, weaving together consistent messages about career opportunities in the p& c insurance industry. The goal is to enhance the industrys image and inform students of the multitude of opportunities available to them.
