CIBC acquires SAS®9 data management software

SAS® Enterprise ETL Server to provide data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) framework for banks Retail Small Business Lending

TORONTO, ON (Oct. 20, 2004) SAS, the leader in business intelligence and predictive analytics software, today announced that CIBC, a leading North American financial institution, has acquired SAS® Enterprise ETL Server to support the Retail Small Business Lending (RSBL) groups data management strategy.

The RSBL group will employ the latest version of SAS leading ETL product, based on the new SAS® 9 Intelligence Platform, to formulate the framework for its data extraction, transformation and loading processes to support its analysis and reporting.

According to CIBC, SAS Enterprise ETL Server will allow the bank to harvest existing data assets while increasing its capability to deliver business intelligence solutions through the extended ETL functionality and intuitive interface. The investment in SAS software will allow CIBC to move beyond traditional ETL development and into areas of advanced analytics, regulatory compliance and risk management.

Being able to access and make use of your business data and feel confident that you have quality data has never been as important as it is now, especially when one considers the risk and compliance issues facing organizations today, said Carl Farrell, president of SAS Canada. The RSBL group at CIBC will now have the industry’s most powerful ETL capabilities necessary to extract data from different locations, transform raw operational data into consistent, high-quality business data and load the data into a data warehouse environment that business users can access to support their day-to-day decision making.

The SAS Enterprise ETL Server is a key package in the SAS®9 Intelligence Platform, which is the foundation of the SAS®9 technologies and solutions. From data management tools to business reporting interfaces to unparalleled analytic capabilities, SAS has developed reliable and easy-to-use technologies that leverage historical investments to drive immediate results. The SAS Intelligence Platform is an end-to-end offering that makes it even easier for businesses to obtain intelligence, achieve strategic business value and sustain a competitive advantage.
