Firm to process claims made for uninsured losses under the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program
August 30, 2004, KITCHENER — Crawford Adjusters Canada Chief Executive Officer Glenn Gibson announced today that the Peterborough Area Flood Relief Committee (PAFRC) has appointed the firm to process claims made under the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP). Crawford will be responsible for receiving and reviewing applications for compensation under ODRAP. We are pleased to have been selected for this important assignment, commented Gibson. Our staff will begin working immediately to process claims which will enable the PAFRC Committee to provide financial relief needed to help the residents of Peterborough begin to recover from this devastating loss.
The Peterborough Area Flood Relief Committee was established to administer the ODRAP. The disaster relief committee will raise funds for the benefit of victims. The province will contribute up to $2 for every local dollar raised, to an amount necessary to settle all eligible claims, up to 90 percent of all eligible costs. Thus, no surplus is created. ODRAP is intended to alleviate the hardship suffered by private homeowners, farmers, small business enterprises, and non-profit organizations, whose essential property has been damaged in a sudden and unexpected natural disaster, such as the recent flooding in Peterborough. ODRAP provides funds to those who have sustained heavy losses for essential items such as shelter and the necessities of life.
