RBC Insurance Launches Market Leading Regional Resource Centres

Appoints Key Executives to Manage Operations

Mississauga, July 20, 2004 RBC Insurance today announced the launch of market leading regional resource centres and the appointment of key executives to support its Canadian life and health business.

RBC Insurance is committed to providing distributors with the skill and expertise they need to grow their life, living benefits and group insurance business, said Neil Skelding, president and CEO, RBC Life Insurance Company. Our industry-leading support model, which is led by a team of experts, was designed to ensure our distribution network has the specialized support they need at every stage of the insurance sales and service process, across all lines of business.

The regional resource centres, which are located in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto and include 75 insurance professionals, are focused on providing superior sales support and service across the group, life and living benefits product lines. These services are provided to RBC Insurance distributors across Canada.

The following recently appointed executives manage these regional centres and our distribution relationships.

  • Neil Paton, is the vice-president, Distribution, Life & Health Businesses. Neil is responsible for business development and the management of our brokerage distribution channels.

Reporting to Neil are three new regional vice presidents:

  • Phil Nemeth, CFP, CLU, CHFC, is the regional vice president, Western Region, supporting British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba;
  • John McMeans, RHU, is the regional vice president, Central Region, covering Ontario; and
  • Madeleine B. Lafontaine, FP, is the regional vice president, Eastern Region, with responsibility for Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

The companys regional vice presidents have overall responsibility for life, living benefits and group insurance sales and market share growth in their respective regions, which includes managing a team of sales consultants. Each consultant is specialized in a particular line of business and focuses on working with distributors throughout the insurance sales and service process. This includes uncovering opportunities, meeting with clients and providing the insurance expertise needed to help distributors increase their life, living benefits and group insurance business. Service is also an integral part of each regional operation. The regional vice presidents work closely with our regional directors of Service and Administration, who report to Jane Ready, director, National Service and Administration, to provide consistent, high quality service and sales support to each region.

Neil and his team are focused on helping our group and individual distributors expand their business by providing integrated insurance solutions, said Skelding. We are confident that the experience and expertise that Phil, John and Madeleine bring to their new roles, combined with the strength of their teams, will provide our distribution network with a superior client experience.
