SAS® Intelligence Platform creates enterprise breakthroughs beyond traditional BI
CARY, N.C. (June 28, 2004) — SAS, the leader in business intelligence, today announced that it ranked highly in a Computer Business Review (CBR) special issue featuring a list of the “Top 10 Most Influential Business Intelligence Vendors, 2004.”
CBR’s team of seasoned journalists and sector analysts nominated, debated and finally ranked their choice of the most influential people and vendors in the technology industry, in the CBR “Top 10 Most Influential Special Issue,” sponsored by Cisco and due to be published in print form and online at www.cbronline.com in early July.
The Special Issue ranks the most influential vendors in 11 key technology sectors, including application development, business intelligence, enterprise applications, IT services, integration & middleware, management software, mobile & wireless, off-shore services, security, servers & workstations and storage. It also ranks the 10 most influential people in the industry, the 50 largest companies in the sector, and the 50 biggest contracts signed in the UK over the course of the last year. SAS placed third out of all of the BI software vendors that were evaluated in the market.
“SAS, a name that’s synonymous with robust, high-end analytics, now offers a scalable business intelligence (BI) platform that delivers intelligence to a larger and broader constituency of business users,” said Madan Sheina, consultant editor, BI technologies at Computer Business Review (CBR). “SAS is one of the few analytic vendors to successfully crack the packaged analytics market by carefully tailoring its core analysis competencies to key horizontal and vertically oriented business applications. While its publicly held rivals remain distracted by shareholder pressure, SAS can focus all its energies into the further development of its BI platform and analytic solutions portfolio.”
SAS continues to further expand the definition of business intelligence with the recent launch of SAS®9, allowing enterprises to break through to a higher level of understanding and foresight, beyond the basic hindsight offered by traditional BI tools. An entire suite of deep analytic applications sit atop the SAS®9 platform, which is a single, scalable platform that provides a consistent, rewarding and user-friendly experience.
SAS delivers enterprise intelligence through an integrated suite of software technologies and solutions, all based on the foundation of the SAS Intelligence Platform. Specifically, this platform integrates industry-leading SAS core technologies in data warehousing, business intelligence, analytic intelligence, data quality and intelligence storage into a single, cohesive offering. These capabilities provide the end-to-end intelligence infrastructure necessary to ensure consistent and reliable enterprisewide intelligence needed for exploring, analyzing and understanding any business. The SAS Intelligence Platform is then used as a basis for the development of many business solutions, such as customer relationship management, supplier relationship management and financial management, tailored to a number of vertical industries.
“Enterprises today want an integrated BI suite that goes beyond historical query and reporting tools. The SAS Intelligence Platform combines the latest query and reporting technologies with predictive analytics to deliver invaluable insights,” said Don Hatcher, vice president of technology strategy at SAS. “We are helping organizations better integrate functions and technologies from across the enterprise, as well as providing appropriate BI interfaces and tools for users at many different levels. No other BI vendor offers such breadth and depth, and that makes all the difference to customer success.”
