MONTREAL, June 3, 2004 – At the Annual Business Meeting of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association, Inc. held in Montreal today, Donald A. Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Life Financial Inc., was elected Chairman of the Association for the year ahead.
“I am honoured to have been elected the 99th Chair of the Association on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Canada’s life and health insurers working together”, said Mr. Stewart. “The purpose of the first gathering of CLHIA’s founding members on May 5, 1894, was to develop industry input to proposed legislation on life insurance. One hundred and ten years later, we are still working with legislators and regulators at all levels of government to contribute constructively to decisions that affect our industry. I am very pleased to participate in continuing this fine tradition.”
During his term in office, Mr. Stewart will be working with a Board of Directors including: newly elected Chairman Elect, James A.
