Becomes First and Only Financial Services Web Site to Win Top Honors Eight Consecutive Times
MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – October 9, 2003 – Marking yet another industry first, the Progressive group of insurance companies announced today that its Web site, progressive.com, has received top honors on the Gomez Scorecard(TM) for the eighth consecutive rating period. No other financial services company Web site has ever been ranked #1 Overall eight times in a row.
The Gomez Scorecard measures the quality of online financial services offerings, with a focus on ease of use, customer confidence, onsite resources and relationship services. The Overall ranking places a priority on a Web site’s educational, purchasing and servicing capabilities.
The site was named first from among a field of 18 Internet insurance carriers for the Third Quarter 2003. To qualify, carriers must offer instant online quotes for personal auto insurance to a significant portion of the U.S. population and sell at least one billion dollars in premium overall.
In addition to receiving the #1 Overall ranking, Progressive also scored highest in the area of Relationship Services which measures a company’s ability to build electronic relationships through personalization and by enabling customers to make service requests. In measuring Relationship Services, Gomez reviews any functionality that builds customer loyalty and a sense of community.
Progressive.com has received top honors in all Gomez Scorecard rating periods to date (Summer 2000, Fall 2000, Winter 2000, Spring 2001, Fall 2001, Second Quarter 2002, First Quarter 2003, and, now, Third Quarter 2003).
Progressive was the first major car insurer to introduce a Web site (1995), first to sell auto policies real-time online (1997) and first to give its customers online access and control of their policies via a customer service site (1998). In March of 2003, Progressive clinched a spot on the coveted Fast Company magazine “Fast 50 Champions of Innovation” ranking thanks to progressive.com’s rate ticker, an up-to-the-minute display of auto insurance rates available to consumers from Progressive and other big-name companies provided by the Web site’s online comparison rating service (the only one like it available from a car insurer).
The Progressive group of insurance companies, in business since 1937, ranks third in the nation for auto insurance and provides drivers with competitive rates and 24/7, in-person service. The companies offer insurance by phone at 1-800-PROGRESSIVE, online at progressive.com and through more than 30,000 independent insurance agencies throughout the country. The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR), the holding company, has headquarters in Mayfield Village, Ohio. More information can be found at progressive.com.Tags: industry first, Progressive Insurance
