Charlotte, N.C., October 28, 2002 Venetica, the leading provider of content integration software, today announced that the U.S. operations of Sun Life Financial has selected VeniceBridge for content integration.
Having made an investment in multiple document repositories, Sun Life Financial required an integration platform that could provide consistent, bi-directional access to these underlying systems while supporting Sun Life Financials J2EE technology standards. Sun Life Financials new business, underwriting, and retirement services groups have large amounts of policy related documents in PDF, TIFF and Word document formats that needed to be accessed and shared with users both inside and outside their four walls.
“We chose Venetica because they were able to simplify the process of integrating our document management systems with J2EE applications,” said Jeffrey Bienkowski, Director, E-Business, Sun Life Financial. “This is our second VeniceBridge implementation and we are very satisfied with the product and the level of technical support provided by Venetica.”
“Now more than ever, companies want to save money on application development and integration. In this case, we were able to help Sun Life Financial take existing content in different repositories and make it readily available to a wide array of users both inside and outside the company through a single interface,” said Stuart Levinson, president and CEO, Venetica. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Sun Life Financial again as they make VeniceBridge their standard for content integration.”
Universal Access to Content
Sun Life Financial was looking for a solution that would allow both internal users and external customers to access documents, based on policy and permission information, residing in multiple document repositories. After accessing a policy, users of the system are presented with a list of supporting documents and images that provides a consolidated view of their policy information. VeniceBridge was selected to provide a single interface to address this need. Due to the broad scope of this implementation, Sun Life Financial required a solution that was fault tolerant, highly scalable, and compliant with their J2EE enterprise technology standards. Other technology challenges included the need to deliver documents and images to external customers. Where document formats such as PDF were not available, VeniceBridge provided the capability to convert documents and images on-the-fly into browser-ready formats so that special viewing software was not required.
